Negation and questions

non before the verb, double negatives, and the question words.

Negation: put non before the verb: Parlo inglese → Non parlo inglese. With object pronouns, non goes before them: Non lo so.

Italian uses double negatives: Non vedo niente. Non c'è nessuno. Non vado mai al cinema.

Questions: keep the normal word order and raise your voice at the end: Parli italiano? Question words: che cosa (what), chi (who), dove (where), quando (when), perché (why / because), come (how), quanto (how much), quale (which).
