The future is made with endings: -are and -ere verbs both take -erò: parlare → parlerò, prendere → prenderò; -ire verbs take -irò: dormirò.
- Spelling: cercare → cercherò, pagare → pagherò, mangiare → mangerò.
- Irregular stems: essere → sarò, avere → avrò, andare → andrò, fare → farò, venire → verrò, vedere → vedrò, volere → vorrò.
In everyday Italian the present is often used for plans: Domani vado a Roma. The future also expresses a guess: Che ore sono? Saranno le tre. It must be about three.
