Comparisons: più, meno, -issimo

Bigger than, as big as, the biggest, very big.

To compare, use più (more) or meno (less) + adjective + di (than): Roma è più grande di Firenze.

  • di joins with the article: più alto del padre.
  • Use che to compare two adjectives, two verbs, or before a preposition: È più bello che utile. Fa più caldo a Roma che a Milano.
  • Equal: come or quanto: È alto come me.
  • The most: il più … di: È la città più bella d'Italia.
  • Very: -issimo: bello → bellissimo, buono → buonissimo.

Irregular: buono → migliore (better), cattivo → peggiore (worse); adverbs: bene → meglio, male → peggio.
